I have tons of Craftsman tools and one of my ratchets finally died so picked up this set at . Used to change transer case fluid and font diff fluid. Went to loosen the oil drain plug and pawl locked and would not move from the tighten position. This was disappointing in the middle of a service. Back to . Will pick another brand.

When I received the Mechanics 63 piece SAE/Metric VersaStack Socket Set I was suprised how nice it looked. Chrome, Compact and, part of the Versastack family, ready for my next project.
The 3/8″ 72 ratchet works smoothly. Attaching the 6 point sockets takes a bit of pressure but using the release button helps.The ratchet, exennsion and. sockets are chrome plated an look well made. The included bit driver is also chrome plated and has a nice firm grip handle. The speciality buts and allen keys will also come in handy.
I really like the set. It is very complete yet compact. All the tools are top quality and work flawlessly.
I was not as fond of the Versastack case. The handle has rough edges and dos not fit the hand very well. Also, the clips use for securing the lid are too tight and hard to open.
Overall the set is a great addition to anyone’s workship. And, with the added benefit of being part of the Versastack product line. Also, I love Craftsman tools, the are great, long lasting tools I trust every day.

I am so pleased with this Versastack mechanics tool set. It came in very handy when installing my son’s new basketball hoop. I was very grateful to have the 17mm socket and also to have the socket extension, which made the installation a breeze.
I love the simplicity of this set and the ease of use and mobility of the kit.
I love the screwdriver with all the interchangeable bits, there’s definitely one in there for any screw head I’d use or come across.
Overall, it’s a great tool set, perfect for in the home, car, and on the go.

Great set. This can literally be used for everything. We have used it on the car, and anything we needed was there and super easy to switch out. My husband actually took this set to use on the billboard to remove the nuts. He was very impressed with it as well as myself. It is not heavy, it is comfortable to use and you get so many differnt options in this set. My 4 year old even used the screw driver part to take apart his car without an issue. This set is super versatile and highly recommend. It is very well made and will. Last for years to come.

I really liked that this craftsman product contained just about any necessary socket/tool for a general package for my truck. Just about everything is included, and its included at a amazing price. Forgot to mention it comes with hands down the best warranty …. LIFE TIME WARRANTY!!!! Cannot beat that.

I got the kit just in time to repair my 2003 Honda Civic Vtech Solenoid Gasket. It had been leaking a lot of oil, so this tool kit came in very handy to fix it. I used the 10mm socket which seems to not be in a lot of tool kits. The ratchet works great, it’s smooth and easy to use. The sockets are easy to attach and remove with the quick release ratchet. I had no problems taking the parts off my car with it. The ratchet is full polish chrome for rust and corrosion resistance. Got the job done pretty quick with this great mechanics tool set! I also used the screwdriver to tighten some things and the handle has a nice grip to it. I really like the mechanics tool kit. It’s very durable and well made. Also you can attach it to other craftsman Versastack tool kits to keep them all together in one place. There is a total of 63 pieces standard and metric in the kit. I highly recommend this to anyone looking a nice mechanics tool kit!! I received this item complimentary and this is my honest review.

This tool kit is tough and of the highest quality. I have always come to expect quality from Craftsman.
The kit contains most of the tools I need most. A ratchet set including both metric an SAE sockets and an extension. It contains a full set of Allen Wrenchs and a full set of screwdriver heads for its magnetic locking driver handle.
I love that Craftsman tools come with a lifetime warranty. I have never had an issue with Craftsman tools or had to use their warranty. I know they put the lifetime warranty on their tools because they have the same confidence that I have in their products.
This kit comes in a rugged carry case. Nothing flimsy about this case either. It is a thick, solid plastic case that is obviously built to last. It has 4 locking clamps, any one of which would hold the cover closed. I can be sure the case is going to hold my tools in their proper place.
I am hard on my tools and expect them to take it. These tools fit perfectly in my collection. They are strong, precise and built to last. I am very happy with this tool kit and it gets the full 5 stars!

I know this is labeled as a Mechanics tool set, but I really think its essential for any home! Here’s my overall thoughts on this:
Pro:
Tool selection is great for a whole slew of options of different bits and sockets for soo many different applications besides just your car.
Build quality is Craftsman, which is one of the few brands I really believe in.
Handy case keeps all these parts together, and if you have any existing Versastack accessories, this will fit in perfectly
Cons:
If you don’t have versastack, this utility wont be as useful and might thing the case is too large for this set.
Would love it if it also came with a monkey wrench set just to provide more options.

I gave this set an extensive and thorough use. I tested the case as well as the tools themselves. For the case it was very durable and when the lid was closed and locked in place none of the tools or sockets came out of place or moved. The case itself is a very durable plastic with a clear lid if you like that sort of thing. So far the lid has held up nicely as well. The case has been thrown around and has been rolling around in trunk with a lot of other tools and still is in good condition. The case has two metal pins that can be removed and the lid can be removed in order to put this in a tool box drawer. The tool tray can also be removed from the case itself allowing for extra storage in your versastack system if you needed it. The case is a versastack and can be combined with other versastack tool boxes. It has 4 plastic latches, two on the front and then the two versastack latches on the side. All of which need to be undone in order to open the case. I personally would have preferred a single latch in the front instead of two because of the two latches on the side but that’s a nitpick. I found it very easy to remove the two front latches with no damage so that only the vesastack lathes on the side lock the lid down. This works very well and they are just as strong as the front latches. The tools are fine, nothing to write home about. They are made with some quality and seem to be durable. I didn’t have any of the chrome chipping so far from anything with my use. But the sockets will be great for any job you need and the ratchet will definitely get the job done.The quick release on the ratchet works great and the action lever switches easily with a single hand. The screwdriver is comfortable and seemed to do good at keeping the dirt off and staying grippy. The bits are easy to remove from the holders and haven’t accumulated any rust so far. There is also a good selection for most needs when doing mechanical work. The least impressive part is the allen wrenches, they are your very basic allen keys and do not have swivel ball ends. I personally don’t find myself using allen wrenches for mechanic work hardly ever. So I feel they were just added to pad the tool count for the set. But they still can be useful. Overall this is a great set for the price and even better if you’re already invested in the versastack system. But still a great set on its own if you don’t intend on using it with any versastack products. I would recommend this set if you need something to keep in your vehicle or to easily take with you,

Truly, an indispensable set of tools. Good little portable tool set that is very convenient. Portable and dependable. It’s filled with mostly every tool you will need in your home or even if kept in car. At first look it’s very well put together and very clean. The sockets are easy to attach and remove with the quick release ratchet. I also used the screwdriver to tighten some things and the handle has a nice grip to it. Tool selection is great for a whole slew of options of different bits and sockets for soo many different applications besides just your car. This is my go to set. 96% of the time it has what I need to get the job done. It feels good, works good, and looks good. The sockets fit the nuts and bolts without excessive play and slippage. It has lots of socket sizes both SAE and metric.
