I returned recently from a three month trip only to find my boat full of water and all four batteries were submerged and have been for some time after draining the boat I shock started the batteries with a start cycle on the charger and recovered all four batteries. This is an amazing charger and all you really ever going to need

I have used this charger in the past, for emergencies when car battery died. It works fine and gets the job done. The cables and connections seem to be durable.

I have t used it often, but the couple times I have needed to use this charger it has gotten the job done and efficiently. The charge could hold a bit longer but overall a decent charger.

I bought a new battery for my motorcycle and needed to charge it after I filled it up. Well the charger did everything on it own. I plugged it in and connected the battery and off it went. The charger went straight to charge. I came back a few hours later and it automatically switched over to maintain. Well I be a flopped ear mule. So for you city folks that want a smart charger..this is it!

This battery charger did get the job done and will work just as well as any other to maintain a battery. The reason I’m only giVing 3 stars is that the indicator lights aren’t necessarily accurate. I knew my battery was going to take a while to charge up since I let it die while away and forgetting to disconnect the battery before I left. So I was surprised when I checked on the battery charger after only a few hours and the charger indicated it was already done charging and switched to maintaining the charge. I hopped in the car and tried the ignition to no avail. After repeating this a couple times and receiving the same result I left it charging overnight and it started right up in the morning. All in all it works, it was just frustrating to see the indicator telling me it was good when it needed longer to charge.

I bought this thinking it was a quality battery charger considering my dad had one that lasted a little over twenty years (larger kind for shop use), long story short this piece of junk quit working after the third time I used it, I thought I would get a decent charger spending $70, I had it too long to return it and can’t get anyone with schumacher to help me. I really feel burnt. My dad recently replaced his old one around the same time and it quite working as well within the first year he paid a local shop to repair it.

This charger isn’t good at all. Only works for a bit and then it will die out. Hasn’t worked since. Please take your time and research if you want a good battery charger.

Disappointed from the minute I opened the box. Cheap, lightweight wire used for the leads. Clips are beyond cheap! I have had this less than 3 years and it stopped working.
I had a similar Shumacher charger for 15 years. Well built and had no issues.
I never give negative reviews but am thoroughly disgusted with this unit! Will not be buying another Shumacher charger!

I was using another “tender” brand charger to try and recover my optima red top. After two occasions of frustrated use, I bicycled over to Lowe’s and picked up this sc1361.
The problem I experienced was that the red top had been discharged down to <6v, due to a stuck relay. The other brand would cycle on and off, telling me I had a battery error, even though it was rated for slow recovery as low as 4.85v.
Plugged the Schumacher in, and it began charging immediately! It took about 2 minutes to recover to 12v on the battery. Seeing as my red top is severely discharged, I expect it will take 7-10 hours to recharge completely.
For the first 30 mins of use, I couldn’t be happier. I’m glad this charger was available locally!

Purchased just a few months ago. I’ve used it one time successfully. I pulled my camper battery out of storage to put it on a trickle charger and it won’t come on. Nothing, just dead.

I can jumpstart with 50A, recharge with 10A and maintain a battery. You can use it when changing a battery to keep your settings. The only times it is not working it was because of dirt on the terminals. After cleaning them it was fine. I think it is very solid too as I used it quite a lot and did not go easy on it. Still no issues.

Perhaps its me. But I have no clue what the tiny hieroglyphics on the face plate mean. Too small to read in anything other than bright sunlight. Incomprehensible meanings. Idiotic engineering/design.

I purchased 4 months ago and it was hit and miss I was disappointed I figured it had a malfunction I purchased another and took the first one back. The new one was the same thing I think the problem is it will not charge a dead battery the batt has to have a charge for it to work.
It’s more of a trickle charger. Terrible.

Mine never worked right. My old one was heavy, and lasted 20 years. This PO metal never made it 6 months. China junk. Buy something else.

This only has red and green lights. There is no gauge with a needle to give you information about charging. I’ve used it on three batteries that it failed charge adequately to be successful in starting engine. Maybe batteries were to far gone. Anyways I bought replacement batteries instead. The charger hasn’t saved me a battery purchase yet.

It never worked again not even to start a four wheeler

this is the second charger I purchased, and took it back just the same as the first, battery charger should be designed to charge the batteries, however the new smart chargers will not charge a dead battery, and you can’t jump start your car with or without a battery if it is below a certain voltage, the construction seems quite adequate, in the promised features seem quite good but for actual use it is useless, you must have a battery that is only slightly discharged for any of the smart Chargers to work. All in all I would not recommend this and I would not buy another one. they may be useful if you are trickle charging or keeping a battery plugged in continuously

First it’s quite expensive, but got this to recharge an Optima 34/78 battery. The luminated lights can be confusing at first to know what I was selecting from: winterization, recharge, or engine jump start as all the lights glowed, however one is slightly brighter from your selection. I followed the owner’s manual throughout. After the recommended 8-10hours on charger I went to inspect if I had a bad battery or it need to continue recharge, 3-days passed still no indication of charge complete. I even felt maybe if I leave the battery on charger (recharge setting) for a week straight. Indicator lights still did not give me feedback of battery needs replacement or to continue charging so I returned Schumacher Electric SC1361 for full refund at Lowe’s customer service.
