Like another reviewer here, I too mounted the spare tire/wheel carrier horizontally onto my trailer’s tongue for better ground clearance. Heck, with its 12″ tires, my Carry-On trailer sits low enough already. Since this spare tire/wheel carrier/rack was actually designed to be mounted vertically, there is a bit of a gap between the tongue and each side of the bracket’s mounting bolts; however, I will have a local welding shop add a couple of small steel blocks, as well as weld the entire bracket onto the trailer’s tongue in order to prevent possible theft.
Securing the spare tire/wheel assembly to the bracket will be done via two welded (actual) wheel studs with locking (keyed) lug nuts…just to ‘keep the honest guy honest’ if you know what I mean. The remaining two locking wheel nuts will be added to my trailer’s existing wheels. Trust me, I’ve known too many individuals who had taken the time to secure/lock-down their spare, but didn’t even think about locking-down the trailer’s actual tire/wheel assemblies to the hubs.
The rack’s quality appears to be strong enough to do the job and all nuts/bolts/washers came shipped inside a plastic bag included in the product’s retail box. Although the installation of this rack was easy enough to figure-out by just looking at the box’s photos, the included instructions (parts list) was clear enough to understand…cheers.

Well made.
I like the fact that the bolt through back plate is one solid piece.
This 1/4” of steel has turned up edges for a ridged back plate to hold the spare tire bracket.
My installation was on a 4” RV bumper so the included bolts were a 1/2” short.
I purchased 4 longer stainless steel bolts with nylon lock nuts for my installation.

Easy to install

Needed somewhere to place my spare tire and this product not only gave me additional room, but, piece of mind on the tire being secure. The product was also very easy to mount.

This is a quality mounting bracket to mount a spare tire on your utility trailer. It can be mounted to both square tubing or round tubing and comes with all of the hardware to mount it to your trailer. Quick easy install on the utility trailer that I had bought from Lowe’s several years back.

Well made, very heavy gauge steel. Bought knowing I was going to fabricate mounting for my trailer, so I cannot review the mounting process except the threads on the u-bolt must be metric threads because the supplied nuts do not fit. No issue here as I used carriage bolts I bought.

I bought this to mount my 225 tire with 5×5 wheel on my utility trailer. I used it for two days and when I was pulling out of my driveway it broke at the welds and I ended up running over my tire and wheel as it was mounted in front of my trailer tires. It might work fine for a jet ski trailer with small tires but not for larger tires.

Like the fact that it could be mount on the tongue or side rails. Mounted mine on the side rail because I have a trailer jack and there was not room for both on the tongue. Also the golf cart over hangs the front of the trailer and it would have been in the way. Have to make sure it is very tight though. First time it slipped, after tightening again, it has worked great!. Beats having to remember to get the spare and put in in the back of the truck. Would definitely purchase again. After bolting on, I took a grinder with a gutting wheel and cut off the extra length of the bolts because they stuck out past the bracket. Did not want to accidentally hit them with the golf cart tire when loading.

Purchased this product with a wheel AND tire at lowes. It made the install/piece of mind so much easier for me and I would recommend the same if you have the standard trailer tire size of 205/75d15
parts included in just the tire holder are below

I needed a mount for my trailer and this one filled the bill. It was simple to install and exceedingly sturdy.

My trailer had L angles so I had to make a filler but its on and strong material

works very well, but after 3 years and 10,000 miles of towing the trailer with the mounted spare tire, the metal bracket cracked in 3 different places. I first noticed it as it was ready to fall off. I’m still pleased with the product. It took a lot of abuse before the stress cracks. Going to buy another one.

The only thing I would change on this tire carrier would be having the same thread as the tires instead of a different thread and bolt. Would be easier to buy a tire lock for it, rather than securing it with a chain and lock

I mounted the spare tire carrier on a 2″ by 3″ tube frame. The 205/75D/15 tire fits perfectly. I added a coated cable and lock for security. It cost about $8.00 less than the exact same carrier at Tractor Supply.

Nuts and lock washers were missing – the parts were listed in the understandable part of the instruction sheet but were not included in the package. I did not want to bother with returning this so I just went and bought the missing nuts and lock washers.
The installation diagram was unclear – it was a bad print that looked like it was a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy.
The instructions indicating how to install this had nonsensical sentences and grammatical errors. I finally just tossed the instructions aside and fiddled with it on my own until I figured it out.
I have not actually installed the product yet but if it actually works, that will be nice.

Overall this is a no brainer review. It does what it is supposed too. My only complaint is that I have a 13 inch wheel on it and it hangs quite a way below the neck. Maybe this would be a manufacturer improvement. Make the spare tire holder match up with the wheel stand so they can share opposite sides of the same place on the neck. Just my two cents worth.

This wheel carrier is heavy duty and is a universal fit .

Perfect fit for my Carry-On 5×10 utility trailer. Came with 2-sided mounting plate that lets you mount it on either pipe or angle iron, so I could mount my tire on the side of the trailer rails rather than on the tongue.

Got the spare where to put it? On the trailer of course. This is easy to install with just a couple of wrenches. It can also work for a hitch trailer rest since the tire is on the ground keeping the hitch part from touching ground. This is if you don’t have a hand crank for raising and lowering hitch. Trailer is light and small so I just do it by hand/back. With a side opening back door, like with my Jeep Patriot, the door will hit the tire on the carrier and limit the swing. That is why just average for ease of use. The product is great for holding the spare tire.
