The ratchet has a smooth handle that is hard to hold onto with greasy hands. Repeatedly crawling under my van to retreave it got old really quick. Spend another $10.00 on the set with the set with a ratchet with a raised area that is designed to give a better grip. This one is getting returned. I guess the Chraftsman name doesn’t mean what it used to.

Despite reported issues with the Fort Worth plant the ratchets and sockets are excellent quality, even better price and after more than a decade made in the USA.

I purchased set CMT45016 from Today. I was alarmed at the surface fractures on the 1/2″ and 9/16″ deep socket walls. This looks like a material flow over compression problem during the reverse extrusion transfer forming process or hydrogen embrittlement…which is worse. It is my opinion that lowes meed to consider recalling the sets before a fracture failure occurs. I did not notice a ANSI certification on the packaging. I made Craftsman sockets with Danaher Corp many years ago in NC. Those sockets were rigoursly tested. Needless to say I am taking these tools Back to for a refund.

Sockets have rust on the inside, brand new in the box. Definitely lack QA but stamped made in the USA. Limited edition as the Texas plant closed only after a year.

These are the short lived USA made Craftsman ratchet and socket sets coming out of the Stanley plant in Texas.
The ratchet and sockets appear to be heavier than the Taiwan versions revealing the quality of steel used.
My set looks and functions great. There is a slight amount of play in the ratchet anvil, but it operates smoothly through its 90 positions.
Overall no complaints, it’s just a shame Stanley had to pull the plug on it. As it is, these are not only nice USA made sets for a great price, they are limited collectors items. Get one before they are gone!
As far as the warranty goes, these are fully covered but you’ll likely be receiving the Taiwanese version as a replacement.
All in all great set. Highly satisfied with my purchase.

I saw this set and was shocked to see it was made in the USA; a rare thing to find these days. I’ve been looking for a small mechanic set to put in my car for emergencies, and I thought this was just about what I was looking for. When I got home and opened it, initially the set looked decent. However, the majority of the sockets appear to have rust on the inside (I attached pictures of a few different ones) . I’m in Phoenix and this is a brand new set, this is not the quality I expect, especially from Craftsman (and made in the USA). I have sockets that are 25 years old that have sat in humidity and don’t look like this. Yes, it’s a minimal amount and might clean up with some vinegar, but it seems ludicrous to have to try this on brand new tools. Unfortunately, I can not recommend this set, and I will think twice before I reach for another Craftsman tool.

Just what my husband wanted. These tools are high quality. He has been wanting this set. And the price was very reasonable. He has used these tools almost daily since we purchased them. I am glad I gave them to him before he’s birthday. I would recommend these to anyone wanting to give a gift for their spouse.

A great gift for someone who is beginning their tool collections!!

The ratchet is made with a smooth, slick handle. This makes it hard to hold onto with greasy hands. Especially n hard to reach areas.Repeatedly crawling under my van to retrieve it got old quick. Spend the extra $10 to get the set with the traditional Chrsftsman handle design. I guess Caftsman ain’t what it used to be. Decent R&D would have caught that.

I received this set for Christmas and I’m very impressed! I was an auto mechanic for 35 years and I’ve always used craftsman tools and I’ve had very few ever break. This newer line now made by Stanley/ black and Decker doesn’t seem to be the great quality nor live up to the craftsman quality im used too. But they are ok for home use and lite duty work.

i picked this up they have some work to do on quality , one of the sockets chrome was flaking off…. everything else seemed fine though…..
