Picked up this set in store. I’ve been following Craftsman’s plan to make tools in the USA for the past few years and was bummed when they announced the plant would close. I’m glad we are getting some of the Made in USA stuff. Some stuff in the set is made in Taiwan but the ratchets and sockets are USA made.

The fact that SBD attempted to manufacture Craftsman tools in the USA again is awesome! I could not pass up owning a new USA produced set for home use! Unfortunately my set had minor to moderate defects in most of the sockets. Many had chroming, machining or broach coating defects. Several had significant rust before it was opened. The sockets all seem to fit and operate fine, and would be great otherwise. The stand outs are the ratchets. These are THE BEST ratchets to ever wear the Craftsman name. They are every bit as good as my Snap-on ratchets. After adding Super Lube to the gear and pawl they are just as smooth as my dual 80’s. I just wish they were a little longer. I’ve tested them side by side, the Craftsman ratchets may actually have slightly less back drag. Besides the dissapointment with the sockets this is a great return to form. I hope SBD finds a way to continue making Craftsman hand tools stateside. I’d like to see more styles of this generation of ratchet, preferably without a quick release or at least one that is recessed. If they can find a way to continue to produce Craftsman Mechanic’s tools stateside and correct the socket manufacturing…. Then Craftsman might be better than it ever was!

For 70 dollars this is not a great set practically speaking. If you want a good set for practical use get a larger combo with wrenches, something older USA made. This set has some duplicates, the cardboard filler needs to be trimmed, the sockets have outside imperfections, the insides of the sockets are pretty rough and unfinished mostly. However, this will be a piece of history some day, the last of American made Craftsman hand tools, an attempt and failure to bring back manufacturing to USA. A limited run. This is part of a story. So for me, and to go along with many generations of Craftsman tools I have, this adds to the collection. By the end of 2023 these sets will all be sold and only available from the secondary market.

One of the last sets that were made here in the USA. The only issue is that there is some slight rusting in some of the sockets witch was disappointing, for a set that is USA made. But for the price you can’t go wrong with this set, to keep in the car for emergency.

Made in USA mechanics tools from Craftsman! Hard to complain, especially for the quality of tool/price.

I didn’t have any of the rust issues that others are talking about. I opened up both ratchets and cut down the pawl engagement spring a bit & now these ratchets have less back drag than literally anything ive used ever, very impressive! I’m very disappointed at the close of the usa plant which produced these we need to bring back manufacturing before its too late

I get craftsman club emails and I don’t remember a note announcing US made socket sets and wrenches. I was in today and saw and bought the last set of these on sale. Had I known earlier I would have bought 5 sets (one for me and one for each of my kids). My kids need them and I want to support the effort. This is a good set and I like to support other American workers in manufacturing. It is important that we maintain a manufacturing base. I think they could improve their marketing.

I gave this set to my husband as a gift based on the fact that it was MADE IN AMERICA and a limited number were made. He was so pleased that he asked me to purchase another one for his brother.

For the price, Made in USA sockets and ratchets. It is hard to go wrong. Ratchet is as nice as my Snap on F80 in terms of backdrag and feel. Bought 2 sets for my kids to have USA made Craftsman.

Sockets have some cosmetic issues and the insides really aren’t polished crome. There are some you tube vids on them. I’m glad they brought some production back to the states. Think it will be fine for general homeowner type stuff. For the price I’m good with it.

low quality poorly thought out kit. the driver handle has no way to drive the 1/4 inch sockets. I had to buy online i could not find it in the store. The employee that helped me told me this item was on order but not in stock. I ordered online in the parking lot and picked up next day.

I bought 2 of these 88 piece sets for Christmas gifts. Had heard that some sets had rusty sockets, so I decided to go from the hassle free pickup of the item directly to the service desk. Sockets looked pretty good for the most part. However, I noticed one set had 2 – 5mm 1/4″ drive sockets, one on the 5mm, another in the spot for the 6mm. customerservice at first tried to give me a 6mm from the rack, but since theis set is USA, they then brought up another set to swap out mine. I examined the replace ment set, and it had 2 – 5/16 3/8″ drive sockets, missing the 3/8″ socket. We then went back to the 1st set they were going to RMA to Craftsman, and replaced the missing 3?8″ socket. 2 out of 3 sets had issues with duplicate/missing sockets. So the sets look solid, 5 stars, but having 2 out of 3 sets I looked at have duplicate/missing socket issues, I dropped rating to 3 stars.

It seems like a good set but the made in USA sockets were a little misleading as the socket extensions were not made in the USA. Also, some of the finish was not great inside the sockets. I would like to get made in USA sockets and other tools but heard they closed the plant these came from. These are not the old western forge craftsman tools but I feel these could’ve been something really special once some of the QC was figured out. Btw, I used to sell craftsman tools from 2005-2012 and the quality was better.
